DENTAL IMPLANTS IN LONDON

A dental implant is a small screw shaped attachment usually made from titanium. It is inserted within the jawbone to take the place of a missing tooth root. Once the jaw bone attaches firmly to the implant, a replacement tooth can be secured to the implant. It is possible to use implants to support a clip in full denture or a permanent bridge.

Having a dental implant involves several stages.

1. Consultation

A detailed examination to assess the health of the gums and an x-ray to assess the level and density of bone is required. At this stage a careful dental plan will also be made outlining the timing of each additional stage. A full price breakdown of the total cost will also be provided. If there is not enough bone then a intermediary stage of sinus lift or bone graft will be considered.

2. Placement of Implant

The implant is a small screw which is placed beneath the gum. This is a relatively simple and quick procedure. You can discuss which type of implant you would like with your dentist.

Generally most implant systems are comparable, levels of marketing associated to certain brands can over inflate prices.

3. Implant Integration

This is the time required between the implant being placed and it being loaded with a crown.

The rate of integration will vary but should be roughly between 4 to 6 months.

 

4. Restoration

This is the stage at which the Implant Abutment and the Implant Crown can be loaded onto the implant. See detailed pictures to the right showing a single crown loaded onto a dental implant and an implant bridge in place on two implants.

Great care will be taken to ensure the crown matches your existing teeth and you achieve the desired aesthetic appearance.

5. After Care

Keeping the gums healthy surrounding the implant is very important and will increase the longevity of the implant.
